In Minneapolis, Twin City Wheels is proud to support senior nutrition programs, including vital services like Meals on Wheels and congregate meal sites. Our mission is to ensure that no senior goes hungry, providing home-delivered meals to those who are homebound and fostering community through shared meals at local senior centers. By donating a vehicle, you are directly contributing to these essential services that address food insecurity among our elderly population.
Each dollar raised through your vehicle donation is leveraged to maximize its impact on senior lives. With an average cost of approximately $7 for a home-delivered meal, your support means that every vehicle donation helps sustain critical nutrition programs that ensure health and well-being for our seniors, while also providing necessary safety check-ins for those who need it most.

↗Real impact, real numbers
Your contribution creates a tangible impact: a donation of $1,500 can fund over 200 home-delivered meals for seniors who are unable to leave their homes. Alternatively, this amount can provide more than 400 meals at a congregate senior center, where the per-meal cost is lower due to communal dining. Every dollar counts in ensuring our seniors receive the nutrition they need, especially during these challenging times when many face isolation and food insecurity.
How we vet recipient partners
At Twin City Wheels, we prioritize accountability and transparency in the organizations we support. We collaborate with Area Agencies on Aging-contracted providers, federal and state accountability standards, and members of the Meals on Wheels America network. Our partners adhere to the Older Americans Act Title III-C nutrition standards, ensuring that they meet the essential needs of our senior population without long waiting lists, reflecting adequate funding sufficiency.
How proceeds flow
When you donate your vehicle, approximately 70-80% of the gross proceeds after tow and processing costs are directed to our partner programs. A program ratio is then applied to ensure that funds are allocated effectively to sustain senior meal services. This means that your contribution not only counts but translates directly into meals and wellness support for our seniors.
Minneapolis recipient landscape
Minneapolis has a vibrant community of senior programs that are essential in addressing the nutritional needs of our elderly population. With an increasing number of seniors in need of assistance, state-level funding remains vital yet often falls short. Your donation helps bridge this gap, ensuring that local programs can continue to thrive and deliver nutritious meals, fostering health and connection within our city.
